What is a Pure Silk Banarasi Saree?

A pure silk Banarasi saree is a saree where both warp (lengthwise threads) and weft (crosswise threads) are 100% pure silk — usually mulberry Katan silk. This is the most premium grade of Banarasi saree and is the traditional choice for brides, ceremonial occasions and heirloom gifting.

Other Banarasi categories like Khaddi Georgette, Organza or Cotton-silk blends use silk in one direction only, making them lighter and more affordable but not the same as pure silk.

Types of Pure Silk Banarasi We Make

Katan Silk: the classic pure-silk Banarasi base, smooth and lustrous, used for both bridal and formal wear.

Tanchoi: a satin-finish pure silk weave with intricate jacquard motifs — no extra weft floats on the reverse.

Cutwork (Kadwa & Phekwa): pure silk Banarasi with hand-cut motifs for a clean, sharp design.

Jangla & Shikargah: storytelling motifs (vines, forest scenes) woven in pure silk Katan — collectors' pieces.

Why Choose KashiAura's Pure Silk Banarasi Sarees

Every pure silk Banarasi from our Mau unit is woven by hand on traditional looms — never on a powerloom. We source mulberry silk yarn directly, dye in small batches, and supervise the weave from setup to finishing.

Each saree ships with a composition tag, weaver code, GST invoice from KashiAura Enterprises, and care instructions. We also offer Silk Mark certification on request for select bridal pieces.

Pure Silk vs. Soft Silk vs. Art Silk

Pure silk refers to 100% mulberry silk in warp and weft. Soft silk is a lighter pure-silk variant blended with finer yarns for drape. Art silk is a synthetic fibre (rayon/polyester) that mimics silk visually but does not have its sheen, breathability or longevity.

All sarees marketed as 'Pure Silk Banarasi' on KashiAura are genuine mulberry silk. Soft silk and art silk options are clearly labelled separately on product pages.

Caring for Your Pure Silk Banarasi Saree

Always dry-clean pure silk Banarasi sarees — never hand wash. Store in a soft cotton or muslin cloth, refold every 3–4 months, and avoid hanging on metal hangers which can dent the silk.

Keep silica gel sachets in the storage area to prevent humidity damage. With proper care, a KashiAura pure silk Banarasi saree will last for generations as a true heirloom.
